The National Violence Prevention Network is a broad-based
coalition of local, state, and national organizations dedicated to violent
death prevention by advocating for the full implementation
of the National Violent Death Reporting System (NVDRS)
in the United States.
Network members work together to generate
support for NVDRS among policy-makers, the general public
and other national organizations by educating them on the
benefits of placing multi-source incident data collected
on violent deaths in a central, state-level repository.
Such activity would enable each state to design and implement
prevention programs aimed at combating violent deaths.
Founded by members of an ad hoc group
that has supported NVDRS since its inception in 2002, the
Network was formally established in 2007.
